The moly coating is seen as a sacrificial lubricant and creates a surface that is slicker than the traditional bare aluminum. What this creates is a lower friction surface overall and as long as the coating remains on the piston it is quite clear there is no skirt wear.
Long term you'll see less overall skirt wear, less heat and friction and less overall plating wear. The moly coating is industry standard in performance ATVs, Dirtbikes, outboards, etc.

So I've been searching for a piston that would fit in the open port husky 55 with the 45mm cylinder. Those cylinders make this just usable in the 3-cube racing class! I assume this would work in the 50/51 chassis as well. Minn is highly modified! I'm not sure if this will fit without machining as my cylinder was already machined by me before purchasing this cylinder. So may not work on a fully stock saw. I would love to throw one in a stock one to verify, but this piston was exactly what I had hoped for. My racer is screaming!
This is with a 045 thousands pop-up cut into the piston, the combustion chamber has been cut and the base has been lowered about 060 thousands.
